Rapid Action Task Force – Spills Reduction
Client: Severn Trent
Value: £1.2m
As part of the Get River Positive initiative by Severn Trent Water, a commitment has been made to reduce overflow spills at various locations across the Midlands. As a result, £1.5bn is being invested over the next six years to halve the number of spills across the Severn Trent jurisdiction.
Lagan MEICA is proud to contribute to this initiative by undertaking comprehensive asset condition surveys across over 150 pumping stations. These surveys assessed infrastructure performance and identified opportunities to reduce sewage spills, enhance environmental outcomes, and improve service reliability. Our work reflects a commitment to sustainable water management and the delivery of innovative solutions for critical live assets.
Delivering Results in Two Phases
Phase 1 – Asset Evaluation
Our rapid action task force, comprising four multidisciplinary engineering teams, conducted detailed evaluations of the pumping stations. By leveraging dedicated project software, we generated custom reports for each site, providing Severn Trent Water with real-time visibility into site conditions and performance. These insights enabled the identification of quick-win opportunities to optimise plant performance.Phase 2 – Upgrades on Live Infrastructure
Following evaluation, our teams meticulously planned, procured, and installed new assets on critical live infrastructure. By working closely with the client and supply chain, we ensured plants remained operational with minimal downtime while delivering cost-effective improvements that reduce sewage spill events.
