RAF Lossiemouth Wastewater Treatment Works
Client: Defence Infrastructure Organisation
Value: £4.8m
Our project at RAF Lossiemouth involved the development of a brand new WwTW facility as well as a connecting pumping main and significant upgrades/improvements to the base’s existing Domestic Wastewater Treatment Works. The project's primary goal was to enhance the facility's capacity, flexibility and efficiency in treating varying wastewater flows from an active RAF base. Lagan MEICA ensured compliance with existing environmental standards and accommodating future population growth in the area. The scheme was taken from outline design through to delivery and commissioning/handover by the Lagan MEICA team working closely with DIO’s asset operations teams in Veolia and Scottish Water.
The project entailed:
A new Wastewater Treatment works on the Northside of the base comprising of a new inlet works, storm management, primary settlement, trickling filters and final settlement as well as automated sludge management and storage.
3 new network pumping stations and control systems
Silt detection systems for surface water drainage
Automated Fire Water control upgrades
Automated potable booster set for aircraft water fill
Aircraft Lav disposal system and wash water booster set
The RAF Base commander complemented the whole team on the their performance in delivering the project and quality of the end product . This was seconded by Veolia who are running the site after handover .
